Underscore Music was created by Jared Underwood, an award winning composer and musician. Since graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music as a classical percussionist, he has been creatively engaged in a wide variety of musical and artistic collaborations with film directors, fashion designers, artists, contemporary dancers, bands and musicians.
Over more than 10 years as a performer, composer, collaborator & studio producer, Jared draws on experience in many genres and situations that inform his composition and production techniques. Experiences ranging from contemporary classical music performance to sweaty dance clubs, from co-writing in the recording studio to live performance in a television studio, from composing film scores to being a session player, creating art gallery installations and collaborating with creative artists of other disciplines.
Jared’s skill set is an unusual amalgam having studied classical music at Uni but then quickly finding a deep passion for popular music and the varied areas of creativity to be found in live performance, studio work, original composition and collaboration with musicians and other creative artists.
